ABSTRACT
Pharmacovigilance carries safe and suitable use of the medications. It is like a screen to outline the processes for monitoring and evaluating Adverse Drug Reaction (ADRs) and its key elements of effective drug regulating systems, clinical practice and public health programmes. However, there is compelling under reporting of ADRs. Adverse drug reactions have turned into a major puzzle in developing countries. The number of ADRs arrived, resulted in a rise in the volume of data handled, and to be aware of the pharmacovigilance, a high level of expertise is required to rapidly discover drug risks/hazards as well as to protect the product against an inappropriate removal. Pharmacovigilance is used for early detection of hitherto unknown
adverse reactions and interactions.[1] The main objective of the pharmacovigilance is the evaluation of benefit-risk profile of drug for better potency and safety in patients. Nowadays in India, Pharmacovigilance gives awareness about ADRs and this review gives details about execution for solving current problems. This article outlines the objectives and methodology used in pharmacovigilance with their summary existing in India and their future need and expectancy.
