ABSTRACT
Plumbago capensis is an ornamental plant belonging to medicinally important family Plumbaginaceae. Solvent leaf extracts were explored for its phytochemical, antioxidant and cytotoxic activity. Four solvent extracts were prepared on the polarity basis, these were namely hexane, chloroform, acetone and methanol. Acetone and methanol extracts showed significant antioxidant activity(>80%) in DPPH radical scavenging assay. Hexane and methanol extract also exhibited good(>90%) cytotoxic active against brine shrimp assay. On phytochemical analysis medicinally important phyto constituent flavonoids was detected.
