MANAGEMENT OF KARSHYA WITH MANJISHTADI CHOORNA: A SINGLE CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
Karshya is common condition found in daily Pediatric scenario. About 29% of children are suffering from undernutrition in India and its highest among the world. Karshya is a condition or disease in which the children’s sphika, udara, griva of child becomes shushka and body shows prominent shirojala (vessels) and sandhi (joints). It’s a kuposhanajanya vyadhi caused by heena matra aahara, ruksha anna pana, vatakaraka aahara-vihara, alpa bhojana and vegadharana.[1] Emaciation of body due to depletion of subcutaneous fat and tissue when persists for a long time results in loss of health and children become malnourished.[4] To overcome the condition we used deepaniya, pachaneeya, brimhaneeya, rasayana drugs. Manjishtadi choorna mentioned in Kashyapa Samhita sutrasthana, lehana-adhyaya are taken for clinical study to evaluate the efficacy in management of karshya, and found to be helpful for a healthy and fruitful life.
