A STANDARD CONTROL CLINICAL STUDY ON EFFECT OF YAVANI ARKA ON UDAVARTINI YONIVYAPAD WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO PRIMARY DYSMENORRHOEA

ABSTRACT
Dysmenorrhoea is found to be one of the most common gynaecological problem in reproductive age group of woman which tends to hampers a woman’s day to day life during menstrual phase. Primary dysmenorrhoea symptomatically can be correlated with Udavartini Yonivyapad described in Ayurveda. For the management of menstrual pain and discomfort many effective herbal remedies used since long. In folk lore practice ‘Ajwain’ -Yavani – Trachyspermum ammi is used in western part of India. This study was aimed to evaluate analgesic effect of Yavani Arka on Primary dysmenorrhoea. Where a group of 30 female patient of reproductive age group with primary dysmenorrhoea were selected and categorized in 2 groups i.e. trial and control group. Trial group was administered with Yavani Arka for 3 days during
menstruation whereas control group was administered with standard drug Mefenamic acid for the same duration. Evaluation was done before and after the intervention with parameters such as duration and intensity of pain, episodes of Nausea, anorexia etc. Where after medication significant relieve found in trial group which is indicative of effectiveness of Yavani for the management of Primary dysmenorrhoea.
