Ruchika Bhola*, Shilpa B. Donga, Harisha C.R. and Shukla V.J.

ABSTRACT

Background: Acc to Acharya Charaka, Sahachara Taila is effective in disorder caused due to Vata Dosha. It cures chronic Vataroga. Vata dosha is responsible for all types of Yonivyapada (gynecological disorder There are four factors responsible for creation of Garbha i.e. Ritu (Ovulatory period/ period for copulation), Kshetra (reproductive tract including Uterus, fallopian tube, Ovary), Ambu (Nutritive fluid for fertilized ovum & fetus), Beeja (Sperm & Ovum). From these four factors tubal blockage can be considered as the deformity of Kshetra i.e. Kshetra dusti. Fallopian tube blockage can be compared as Sanga type of Srotodushti. Aim and Objectives: To develop pharmacognostical and pharmaceutical profile of Sahachara taila. Materials & Methods: The study includes the preparation of Sahachara taila following all SOPs using raw drugs, which were previously authenticated. Pharmacognostical and Pharmaceutical parameters, High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography has been performed as per Standard method. Results: The Pharmacognostical study of ingredients of Sahachara taila showed the Compound starch grains, Cork in surface, Pitted vessel, Rhamboidal crystal, Simple fiber, Sleroides and tannin of Sahachara taila. Pharmaceutical analysis of Sahachara taila showed that saponification value (mg/g) was 186.7, acid value (%) was 0.4783, iodine value (I2 100/g) was 82.91, specific gravity at room temperature was 0.9081and refractive index was 1.4701respectively etc. and HPTLC at 254 nm resulted into 9 spots and at 366 nm resulted into 11 spots respectively. Conclusion: Standard value from this study can be used for further researches and evaluation of Sahachara taila helps in Quality control tool for its manufacturing or processing. Analysis through Pharmacognostical and Pharmaceutical shows suitability of drug for uttarabasti purpose.
