ABSTRACT
Ziprasidone has been reported to be an effective a typical newer generation antipsychotic drug for both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia. For treating a schizophrenic patient, a combined action of an antipsychotic drug is needed i.e. For an immediate effect fast release of drug form formulation is desired and then a delayed release is needed. At present no existing formulation is having both type of action. In present work a bilayer tablet of Ziprasidone will be formulated in which one layer will provide a fast release to show an immediate effect and other layer will provide a sustain release of the drug and will be useful for maintaining the drug concentration in the
diseased state. The major advantage of formulation will be reduction in the dosing frequency and enhancement of patient compliance and therapeutic effect. In the present research, the release profile will be studied.
