Abstract

A REVIEW ON NOVEL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM: NIOSOMES

Monica Verma*, Arachana Kanaujia, and Smita Singh

ABSTRACT

The medicine is given in the body using a method called drug targeting, which allows the drug to interact with the target tissue at the cellular or subcellular level and produce the intended therapeutic effect where it is expected to occur without causing adverse effects elsewhere. Niosomes, which target the drug delivery mechanism, can be used in contemporary approaches to complete this. The medication is crushed into a vesicle by niosomes, an unique drug delivery method. The vesicle contains a bilayer of non-ionic surface-active substances, sometimes known as niosomes. In terms of structure, niosomes are similar to liposomes in that they both consist of a bilayer. However, the bilayer is produced in the case of niosomes. A vesicle contains a capsule of medication. Niosomes are flexible in their structural characterisation, biodegradable, biocompatible, and non-immunogenic. The primary goal of this review is to highlight how niosomes technology is being used to treat a variety of disorders. Niosomes are advantageous for both researchers and the pharmaceutical industry. Due to niosomes stability and affordability, it appears that people prefer it over liposome as a medication delivery mechanism. Additionally, niosomes have a huge promise for the targeted administration of anti-infective and anti-cancer drugs. Utilizing innovative drug delivery methods can increase the ability of niosomes to transport drugs.
