WINE VARIETIES AND BENEFITS TO HUMAN HEALTH -A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Traditionally, in many countries the wine consumption and wine making has been known. The health benefits of wine was popularized by the ancient romans. Usually, wine is made up of one or more grapes varieties. The quality of wine and health properties highly depends on the polyphenolic content of wine. The red wine consisting of more number of polyphenols. resveratrol, anthocyanin, catechin, epicatechin, procyanidins, tannins are some of the polyphenols present in the red wine. The White wine consisting of antioxidants, flavonoids, polyphenols, caffeic acid, essential minerals and vitamins such as vitamin B6, B2, and B3, calcium, zinc, potassium, zinc, phosphorus. Red wine has many biological properties such as neuroprotective
effect, cardioprotective effect, nephroprotective effect, anti-diabetic, anti-oxidants, anti viral, anti bactericidal, anti fungal, anti cancer, anti inflammatory, obesity. White wine has cardioprotective, neuroprotective, antioxdiants, nephroprotective, cancer, lung function, weight loss.
