WOUND HEALING EFFICACY OF YASHTIMADHU IN VRANA: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Vrana is elicited in Ayurveda with great importance to its
symptomatology and its effective management, by Bruhattrayis. The
most celebrated physician in India and the father of surgery Acharya
Sushruta dedicated 8 chapters to explain Vrana and also decodes 60
modalities for its management. All modalities can be classified under
Vrana Shodhana and Vrana Ropana and also described various Vrana
Ropana Dravyas. Yashtimadhu is one of them. Yashtimadhu
(Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn.) is Shonitasthapana as well as Vrana
Ropana. So, it will provide healthy granulation to the wound and
promotes healing this review is an attempt to highlight the available
literature of Yashtimadhu in relation to Vrana Ropana. This will be
helpful as a compilation of all major references at one place regarding Yashtimadhu and
Vrana Ropana.
