ABSTRACT
Aim: The aim of the present study was investigate the Pharmacognostical, Phytochemical and anthelmintic studies on the stem of Solanum Nigrum Linn. Methodology: The systemic study stem of Solanum Nigrum Linn was conducted right from authentication, Pharmacognostical evaluation, successive solvent extraction, Phytochemical screening of extracts, and evaluation of anthelmintic activity was performed to understand the potentials of therapeutic efficacy of selected drug. Result: Pharmacognostical evaluation and Physico chemical parameters proved the authenticity of the stem by their presence of histological characters of Solanum Nigrum Linn. Standardization involves evaluation of the organoleptic characters, microscopical, various Physico-chemical properties such as ash value and extractive values. Phytochemical screening of these plant
extracts indicated the presence of various secondary metabolites like carbohydrates, proteins, amino acids, volatile oils, steroids, flavanoids, glycosides, alkaloids and tannins. Conclusion: The conclusion drawn from the various research carried out in present study which includes various parameters like microscopic, macroscopic, Physico chemical values, Phytochemical screening. These studies may be useful for identification of Solanum Nigrum Linn whole plant. Phytochemical screening of these plant extracts indicated the presence of various secondary metabolites like carbohydrates, proteins, amino acids, volatile oils, steroids, flavanoid, glycosides, alkaloids, tannins. This Phytochemical may be responsible for the therapeutic activity of the plant.
