ABSTRACT
Microspheres play a very important role as a particulate medicine delivery system due to their small size and other efficient properties. Microspheres proved to be a suitable bridge to bridge the distance formulate an effective dosage form, simulate the controlled release of the drug. Microspheres are characteristically free- flowing solid powders that consist of proteins or synthetic polymers that are biodegradable in nature. Microspheres having a particle size in the range between 0.1-200 μm, may be supplied in several routes such as oral, parenteral, nasal, ocular, transdermal, colonic, etc. Various recent
advances in microspheres such as mucoadhesive, hollow, floating, microballoons, magnetic have helped to overcome various problems which are associated with the use of microspheres, which includes site-specific targeting and improved release kinetics. In the future by combining various new strategy, microspheres will find a central place in the delivery of new drugs, especially when sorting diseased cells, genetic materials, safe, targeted and effective medication administration.
