Abstract

A REVIEW ARTICLE ON TINEA PEDIS A FUNGAL FOOT INFECTION

ABSTRACT

Studies on skin diseases, especially tinea pedis, are very rare in Ghana, resulting in low investment in dermatology services in the country and on the African continent. Tinea pedis affects approximately 15% of the world's population. Public health The problem and the socio-economic aspect. Currently, the most recommended treatments for tinea pedis infection are polyenes, azoles, allylamines, and fluorocytosines. Tinea pedis can be accompanied by a dermatophyte infection on other parts of the body, such as the groin, hands, or nails. About 15% of the population will have athlete's foot at some point Over time, more than 70% of people will develop an athlete's foot infection during their lifetime, most likely tinea pedis. Once infected, the organism remains in the host for a long time and the individual acts as Carrier. Patients with severe symptoms may seek medical help and often have a toenail fungal infection at the same time. There are many undiagnosed cases that can Asymptomatic and not a suspected tinea pedis, but a possible source of infection for others.
