ROLE OF IMMUNITY IN OLDER AGE

ABSTRACT

According to recent statistical data the pre ageing is increasing worldwide and decreased immunity is emerging as a challenging speciality. In human body Dhatus gets degenerated as the age advance due to prolonged structural and functional changes. In every decade of life we lose different dimensions of our body like in first decade we loss balawasta, memory, complexion, skin -lustre, immunity, voice etc. It is natural phenomenon Oja is hypothetical entity which provides immunity (vyadhi Kshamatva). Three doshas are individually dominant in different phase of life like in young age kapha dosha is predominant over other but in older age kapha kshay and vata vriddhi is natural. Oja is prakrit sleshma of our body in older age as kshaya of
oja also leads to decrease immune system as result immune system is compromised and body is much prone to common infection and diseases.
