Abstract

Sneha Madhuri* and Sunitha Joshi

ABSTRACT

PCOS is a condition that affects women of reproductive age resulting in hormonal, reproductive and metabolic abnormalities associated with disturbed menstrual cycle, hyperandrogenism, acne, hairfall, obesity, diabetic predisposition, infertility and mood swings. Vikuta jataharini mentioned by acharya Kasyapa can be correlated with pcos with scanty or excessive menses along with general weakness (metabolic manifestation). Hormonal therapy and LOD (laproscopic ovarian drilling are the only line of treatment in contemporary science whereas in ayurveda it can be managed through dinacharya, ritucharya, ahara, vihara, and aushadha. In this study, a 27 yr old female complaining of irregular cycles with heavy menstrual bleeding due to PCOD is anxious to conceive. Initially treatment for heavy menses and later for irregular periods is given, as a result her cycles got regular and even she got conceived. Here in this case study, we did a HOLISTIC approach that includes lifestyle modifications, nutritional diet, ayurvedic medication, exercise(yoga) along with counseling.
