Abstract

FORMULATION AND IN-VITRO EVALUATION OF POLY HERBAL ANTI- ACNE FACE CREAM

ABSTRACT

The present study was aimed at the formulation and in-vitro evaluation of a polyherbal anti-acne cream that is prepared by using suitable excipients and four plant drug combined extract of scientifically known anti-acne herbal drugs say, Tulasi leaves, Pumpkin seeds, Onion bulbs and Artemisia leaves by general method of cream preparation. Different formulations (F 1, F2 and F3) were prepared by using different proportions of excipients and are evaluated for different physico-chemical parameters like, Viscosity, flow properties etc., and the Biological evaluation is done by disc diffusion method against related Bacteria. The results were compared with marketed formulation. Among the three formulations F1 shown better and promising results in comparison with reference for all the tested parameters of evaluation. Therefore, F1 can be concluded as the optimized formulation. Finally, it can be concluded from the present study that the optimized formulation can be recommended for the further study to develop into an effective dosage form for the treatment of Acne.
