UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC ANALYTICAL METHOD DEVELOPMENT FOR THE SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION OF TELMISARTAN AND ATORVASTATIN IN BULK AND FORMULATION

ABSTRACT

A simple, specific, accurate and precise UV Spectroscopic method has been developed for the simultaneous estimation of Atorvastatin and Telmisartan in tablet dosage form. Calibration curve was linear with correlation coefficient of 0.999 and 0.999 for Atorvastatin and Telmisartan respectively. The percentage recovery of the drug was found to be in the range of 99.91-100.40 % and 100.12-100.31 % respectively for Atorvastatin and Telmisartan indicating accuracy and reliability of method. The method was found to be precise as indicated by the repeatability of the analytical procedure, showing % RSD < 2%, 0.12 and 1.39 in AUC (area under the curve), respectively for Atorvastatin and Telmisartan. UV spectroscopy method was developed using the samples were analyzed using NAOH the curve was by Atorvastatin and Telmisartan was found at 240-294 nm respectively. The proposed method was validated as per ICH guidelines. Hence, the developed analytical method can be utilized for the routine simultaneous analysis of Atorvastatin and Telmisartan in tablet dosage form.
