A REVIEW ON MAHAKALYANAKA GHRITA FROM AGADTANTRA PERSPECTIVE

ABSTRACT

In Ayurveda there are various types of kalpanas are given in Ras Grantahas & in other samhitas. One form is Ghrita kalpas, as in treatment of any disease use of ghee plays an important role. Mahakalyanaka Ghrita is a formulation that has a combination of many herbs been out of which nine drugs are sheeta veerya and nineteen drugs are Ushna (hot) veerya in nature. Many drugs have proved to have anti- microbial, anti- venom, antioxidant, antimicrobial, etc. properties. Most of the drugs are easily available, easy to formulate and practice. Aim and Objective: To study Mahakalayanaka Ghrita from different ayurvedic texts. This review article is an attempt to analyse the probable mode of action of Mahakalyanaka ghrita in psychiatric conditions. Material and Methods: There are various different references of Mahakalyanaka ghrita from Charaka Samhita, Sushrut Samhita, Ashtanga Sangraha. It is Therapeutic study of Mahakalyanaka Ghrita. All the references of MKG are taken from Ras Ghranthas, Bruhatrayees, samhitas. Main ghrantha used are: Data is collected from Charaksamhita, Ashtanghridaya, Bharatbhaishyajyaratnakar, Sushrutsamhita, journal research paper article & subject related information available on internet.
