ANALYTICAL STUDY OF BILVA (AEGLE MARMELOS LINN.)

ABSTRACT
India has a rich heritage of plants as medicines. Large numbers of plants are utilized in various systems of medicine practiced in India. Ayurveda is one of them in which most of medicines are derived from plants. Bilva (Aegle marmelos) is one of them, very well-known and extensively used since ancient times. It is also very important plant for Hindus as it is used in rituals and considered as an auspicious tree. Utilization of medicinal properties of bilva in day to day life has great nutritional, environmental as well as commercial importance. It has been in use from time immemorial in traditional system of medicine
for relieving constipation, diarrhea, dysentery, peptic ulcer, and respiratory infections. The potential action of bilva is subject of research for diabetes mellitus, cancer, cardiac diseases, inflammatory diseases etc. In Present study morphological, physical and chemical properties are analyzed.
