Abstract

A CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFICACY OF VARUNADI GANA KAALABASTI IN PCOS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO PUSHPAGHNI JATAHARINI - A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT

Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrinopathy in women of reproductive age, resulting from insulin resistance and the compensatory hyperinsulinemia. This results in adverse effect on multiple organ systems and may result in alteration in serum lipids, anovulation, abnormal uterine bleeding and infertility. According to Ayurvedic view PCOS can be correlated with Pushpaghni Jataharini. Initially PCOS was related to infertility only but now it is clearly established that in many it starts with puberty and ends with menopause. Therefore the present study was carried out for the clinical evaluation of the efficacy of Varunadi gana niruha and Shatapushpa taila Anuvasana basti in PCOS. Basti chikitsa is the most effective treatments of Artava and yoni vyapad. Total 30 patients were selected by using purposive sampling method. the treatment was conducted for the duration of 16 days in kalabasti pattern. The response to the treatment was recorded and therapeutic effects were evaluated by abdominal Scan and Subjective parameters. The present study concluded highly significant results in Subjective and objective parameters.
