ABSTRACT
Growth in the agriculture sector is essential for the economy. The adoption of good quality seeds and careful management are the only ways to meet the need for increasing global food supply. The most significant factor influencing agricultural output potential and a major factor in the success of contemporary agriculture are seeds. The success of crop development programmes depends in large part on the accessibility of high-quality seeds with strong germination, emergence, and great vegetative growth potential. To satisfy the demands of
various agro-climatic conditions, such as tolerance to heat and cold, drought, salt, heavy metals, and resistance to pests and diseases, high-efficiency seeds are needed. In this literature review, we attempted to characterize the effect of heavy metal stress on seed physiology.
