Abstract

DIFFERENT GASTRORETENTIVE DRUG DELIVERY APPROACHES; DESIGNING, DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF EFFICIENT MUCOADHESIVE AND FLOATING SYSTEM

Radheshyam Samanta* and O. P Agrawal

ABSTRACT

Gastroretentive drug delivery approaches are those systems that help to deliver the drug in the region of stomach and or upper part of small intestine for long time to improve the therapeutic effectiveness. This will play a significant role in drug delivery system to minimizing the dose as well as dosing intervals, better patients compliance, improved bioavailability, however to treat efficiently many more disease or disorder. In this current review enlisted about the different efficient gastroretentive drug delivery approaches with their merit, demerit, and application also depending upon their suitability of anatomical & physiological aspect of gastroretentive system, effecting factors and consideration. This review also described about the technique for specifically designing, development and evaluation of different parameter for significantly mucoadhesive and floating gastroretentive drug delivery approaches.
