Abstract

A REVIEW ON NOVEL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM: NIOSOMES

Prof. Ramnivas*, Suraj Mishra, Abhishek Mishra, Deepshi Srivastava and Mohd Lateef Khan

ABSTRACT

Drug targeting is a sophisticated method of drug administration that connect the drug to the target tissue at the cellular or subcellular level to achieve the intended therapeutic response at the anticipated site while avoiding adverse interaction at other sites. Modern approaches that focus on the drug delivery mechanism, such as niosomes, can be used to complete this. Niosomes are a cutting-edge drug delivery technology that compresses the medicament inside a vesicle. The vesicle is made up of a bilayer of substances with non-ionic surface activity, sometimes known as niosomes. Niosomes are similar to liposomes structurally in that they both consist of a bilayer. Niosomes, however, are created with a bilayer. Niosomes, a contemporary technique that targets the drug delivery system, can be complete this. However, a unlike liposomes, where the bilayer is composed of phospholipid, niosomes is composed of non-ionic surface-active substances. Niosomes are a novel approach to liposomes that are biodegradable, nontoxic, more robust and less expensive. They are a sort of non-ionic surfactant vesicle. Niosomes can be either Unilamellar or multilamellar depending on how they are made. The size of the niosomes or the amount of the bilayer (such as MLV or SUV) determines how they are categorised (such as LUV or SUV) or based on the technique of preparation (e.g. REV, DRV). Due to their potential to encapsulate many types of pharmaceutical within their multi-environmental structure, niosomes can serve as an alternative vesicular system to liposomes given that they share a structure with them.
