REVIEW OF PARPATI KALPANA W.S.R. TO NIRGANDHA PARPATI

ABSTRACT

Parpati Kalpana is the unique mercurial preparation in the field of Rasashastra. It is a Pota Bandha of Parada, one of the Chaturvidha Rasayana and Agnisthayi Murchita Parada Bandhas. As the Bandha term derived to bond the Parad particle with Gandhak, Parad and Gandhak are the essential components to make Parpati. This Parada Murchita Yoga preparation contains medicinally potent minerals and metallic compounds, including both Sagandha (with sulphur) and Nirgandha (without sulphur) (medicines prepared out of mercury). But there is little research available on Nirgandha Parpati Kalpna. Through this review study, attempt to elaborate on the evolution of Nirgandha parpati kalpana with pharmaceutical preparation methods, standardisation criteria, likely action, and therapeutic effect is done.
