ABSTRACT
Plants and their derivatives have been utilised in traditional medicine to treat human illnesses since ancient times. Through the years, humanity have relied heavily on plants as a source of food and medicine. In order to improve human health, new foods and plants are being researched as nutrition science shifts from the idea of adequate nutrition to that of optimal nutrition. Apocynaceae, a family of xerophytic succulents with over 100 species worldwide, includes the Caralluma and Boucerosia species. It is a naturally occurring substance that is utilised in India as a carminative, anthelmintic, anti-diabetic, anti-hyperglycemic, appetite suppressant, etc. It is also known as Shindala makadi, Kallimudayan, Ranshabar, and Makad shenguli in
Western India. The Wealth of India, a comprehensive compilation on medicinal plants published by the Indian Health Ministry, lists caralluma fimbriata as a vegetable. Phytochemical analyses, plant profiles, and medicinal activity are discussed in this article. Fimbriata caralluma.
