ABSTRACT
The majority of individuals are affected with dandruff, a common scalp condition brought on by the yeast Pityrosporum. There is no complete cure for dandruff; it can only be effectively controlled and maintained. The most typical dandruff symptoms are particles on the scalp, itching, and redness surrounding the scalp. Dandruff may be treated in two different ways. These anti-dandruff shampoos come in two varieties: chemical-based anti-dandruff shampoos and herbal-based anti-dandruff shampoos that contain antibacterial and antifungal compounds such ketaconazole, sulphur dioxide, zinc pyrithione, and other comparable substances. Anti-dandruff shampoos not only slow down the peeling of the scalp but also have their own hazards,
including hair loss, increased scaling, itching, irritation, nausea, headaches, vomiting, and photosensitivity. Herbal extract-based formulations are a workable substitute for commercially available pharmaceuticals. There are currently a large number of herbal shampoos on the market, and many contain herbal ingredients including plant extracts and essential oils. In this review, we'll talk about the aspects that determine how effective an anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner is, as well as the causes of dandruff, various herbs, and synthetic ingredients.
