EVALUATION OF AROMATIC RICE OF INDIA

ABSTRACT
India has a vast variety that compels its home of more than 300 varieties of scented rice. Almost every state has its own scented rice which is confined in that area. That makes India the largest exporter of scented rice in the world. Scented rice is also classified as Basmati and Non - Basmati Rice. This article considers the two remarkable scented rice of Uttar Pradesh that is Basmati rice and Kalanamak rice. Both of these varieties are famous for their unique aroma. Both of them are physically differentiated because of their grain color. Basmati rice has long grain quality and a specific aroma. Kalanamak rice has black husk
and normal grain quality and aroma are absolutely different. Accounting for production and consumer India is also the largest exporter of aromatic rice in the world but the only aromatic rice it largely export is the Basmati while it has more than 300 varieties of aromatic rice. Many of them have lost their aroma quality due to poor management of seeds, and Kalanamak rice is one of them. But in recent years scientists gave attention to Kalanamak rice, and four new varieties are formed. UP government also takes an interest to improve the production and exportation of this rice.
