A LITERARY REVIEW OF SHARKARA KALPANA- NEW AYURVEDIC LIQUID DOSAGE FORM

ABSTRACT
In current time, World is demanding for the favorable, palatable new dosage form, because maximum of ayurveda drugs are not so palatable. Now for this, Ayurvedic pharmaceutics have, its solution too. Here “Bhaishajya Kalpana” is branch of Ayurveda, in which the name of Sharkara Kalpana as a new dosage form is introduced. The first ever direct description of Sharkara Kalpana was seen in 20th century in book named as Dravya Guna Vijnanam by Acharya Yadav ji Trikram. According to him after preparation of any one of Hima, Phanta, Kwatha, or Arka Kashaya Kalpana the double amount of sugar should be added in specific Kalpana at mandagani. Later Sharkara Paka Pariksha is done as confirmatory test for preparation of Sharkara Kalpana. Gradually After 20th century there are some more description was observed in some classics like Siddha Bheshaja Manimala,
Rasatantra Sara evam Siddha Prayoga Sangraha, & Ayurveda Sara Sangraha, where method of preparation, dose and uses of different types of Sharkara are given.
