EFFECTIVENESS OF NISHAGANDHI HAIR CARE OIL AMONG HEALTHY VOLUNTEERS WITH HAIR FALL AND HAIR LOSS: A PROSPECTIVE CLINICAL STUDY

ABSTRACT
Background: Hair fall is a major issue among all people across the world without a difference among genders, ages, and ethnicity which lead to physical as well as psychological problems. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Nishagandhi Hair Care Oil among Healthy Volunteers for prevention of hair fall. Methods: A prospective clinical study was conducted among the 12 healthy volunteers at our clinical setting. The baseline demographics and hair fall characteristics were collected and observed with the specified treatment strategy for 3 months. An herbal coconut oil based formulation of the Bringaraja (Eclipta alba) were applied on the hair and the improvement in the outcomes were noted after the treatment. A student t-test was used to was used for the comparison of quantitative variables and a p-value of <0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Result: A total of 12 participants with a mean age of 26.5±2.75 years were included in the study. The three month hair oil treatment was clinically effective in increasing the hair growth (11/12; 91.67%) and reducing the hair fall (10/12; 83.3%) among the volunteers. There was a significant (p=0.000) reduction hair fall with bulb by comb test, hair fall without bulb by comb test and hair fall by hair pull test; and increase in the percentage of hair growth following 3 month treatment. All patients recorded a good overall satisfaction and none of the patients reported any safety issues. Conclusion: Nishagandhi hair care oil was significantly effective in reducing the hair fall and increasing hair growth without any safety issues. Further adequately powered studies are needed to strengthen our findings.
