Abstract

GASTRORETENTIVE DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR TREATMENT OF PEPTIC ULCER

Mosam Namdev*, Jain Sunil, Khangar Pushpendra and Jain Vivek

ABSTRACT

A peptic ulcer, stomach ulcer, or gastric ulcer, also known as peptic ulcer complaint ( PUD), is a veritably common habitual complaint of the stomach which is substantially caused by damage or impairment of the stomach filling. Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) is one of the most common pathogenic bacterial infections and is set up in the tummies of roughly half of the world’s population. It's the primary given cause of gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer complaint and gastric cancer. In this research composition, our main focus is on some important gastroretentive medicine delivery systems (GRDDS) which will be helpful in gastroretention of different lozenge forms for treatment of peptic ulcer. GRDDS provides a mean for controlled release of composites that are absorbed by active transport in the upper intestine. It also enables controlled delivery for paracellularly absorbed medicines without a drop in bioavailability. We also concentrate on colorful aspects useful in the development of gastroretentive medicine delivery systems, including current trends and the progress of new forms, especially with respect to their operation for the treatment of H. pylori infections.

Keywords: Helicobacter pylori, Gastroretentive systems, Bioadhesive systems, famotidine, Expandable systems.
