Dr. Sagar Sharma*, Dr. Kirti Mishra, Dr. Shifali Sahu and Dr. Rashmi Tiwari

ABSTRACT

At this moment, the entire country is facing a serious problem – an infectious disease known as COVID-19 (“coronavirus disease 2019”) which is caused by a virus. It is spreading extensively and is leading to a number of deaths not only in INDIA but even in developed countries of the world. Health workers are at the centre of the COVID-19 pandemic as they are critical in the fight against the virus. Long and irregular hours of shifts, heavy workloads can increase stress and cause mental health issues. The pandemic is putting significant psychological pressure on health workers as they are facing unprecedented circumstances and pressure during this outbreak. Although measures like social distancing and isolation are helping to slow its spread. But health workers still face extreme pressure from the increased demand on the health care system. Also, there is a constant worry about being exposed to the virus, and unknowingly spreading it to patients and family. Many health workers have to avoid contact with vulnerable family members, causing further social isolation Intense media scrutiny and a lack of understanding from the community, including hostility at times, also adds to the stress. This study is being conducted to know how and by what extent thispandemic is affecting the mental health of the health workers who are constantly working to tackle this situation of national worry.
