TRIPHALA MASHI AND ITS MODIFICATION TO A TOPICAL SEMI SOLID DOSAGE FORM

ABSTRACT

Triphala Masi is an Ayurvedic formulation mentioned in the context of Upadamsa Vrana but which has been used with good results in the management of chronic non healing ulcers. But a major drawback of the formulation is blackish discoloration caused in the wound which looks hideous and causes discomfort to the patient. Because of the reason the patient compliance to the medicine is much less compared to other wound healing medicines. To rectify the problem and to make the usage of the product easy an attempt was made to convert Triphala Masi into a topical dosage form. Cream, gel, ointment and paste were considered.
