A SYSTEMIC REVIEW OF AMAVATA AND IT'S MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT

In the present era Amavata is the most common disease affecting a large aged population. Amavata term derived from words 'Ama' and 'vata'. The ama when combines with vatadosha and occupies shleshmasthana results in painful disease Amavata. The clinical features of Amavata are pain, swelling and stiffness of joints, fever and general debility. Aamavata is corelate with Rheumatoid Arthritis. RA is chronic degenerative disease of the connective tissue mainly involving the joints.Amavata is a disease of Rasavahstrotasa. In this disease of Aamavata due to Agnimandya, Amotpatti and sandhivikruti occurs. So management of Amavata is normalize agni, metabolise Ama and regulates Vata and maintain sandhi and sandhisthashleshma will be best for the disorder. In Ayurveda shodhana and shaman chikitsa are advised for Amavata and in modern science Anti-inflammatory analgesic, steroids and DMARD'S are required for its management in modern science.
