Abstract

CURE FOR ANTIFUNGAL INFECTIONS: BAKUCHI

Ramchandra Shriniwar* and Sonali Mahaparale

ABSTRACT

The increasing rate of fungal infection is now a big concern, increasing fungal infection is the cause of medical conditions and mortality. Yeasts and moulds now rank amongst the 10 most frequently isolated pathogens. This is related to the growing population of immune-compromised individuals. Patients with conditions such as Granulocytopenia, advanced HIV infection, bone marrow and solid organ transplantation, cancer, diabetes mellitus, severe burn and trauma, and severe malnutrition are predisposing factors for low immunity. Infection may also be caused by various types of fungi such as yeast and mould, including hyaline and dematiaceous mould. A healthy population may be at risk which is not exposed to fungi and may be affected by dimorphic fungi. Research on pathogenesis, prevention, and control of fungal infection are a few steps we may put together to cope with these emerging health problems.[2] Fungal infection is unavoidable because they are directly connected to diseases as well as to their treatment. Modern aggressive treatment methods threaten the defense mechanisms to an extent that fungi with low virulence may enter the body.[4] bakuchi (Psoralea corylifolia L) seeds from Asia belong to the family Leguminosae. Antifungal, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, Antiprotozoal, Anthelmintic, Antioxidant, and Anti‐diabetic properties have been described for the plant's seeds.

Keywords: Psoralea corylifolia L, antifungal, Granulocytopenia, moulds, Yeasts.
