ABSTRACT

Antibiotic since its discovery have become undoubtedly a vital part of the health care system. They are power drugs used to fight against numerous infections both in humans as well as Animals. They also have agricultural use; however over the past decades there has been a gradual rise in the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics making it difficult and, in some cases, impossible to treat certain infections. This article gives a conspectus on antibiotic resistance which is now recognised as a worldwide problem, it sheds light on its cause, the challenges that amounts form it and various ways to manage it.
