EFFECT OF NUTRACEUTICAL OR DIETARY SUPPLYMENTS IN PREVENTION OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES AND ON INCREASING HDL

ABSTRACT
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the most frequent health problems in the world. Foods and dietary supplement play a role in cardiovascular risk, either directly or indirectly through their influence on other risk factors such as hypertension, Atherosclerosis, Diabetes and Heart Failure. Nutraceuticals are natural nutritional ingredients that have been proved to be effective in the treatment of illness or as a prevention measure. Several foods and dietary supplements have been found to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by increasing HDL (High Density Lypoprotein) levels. The purpose of this review is to provide information about different kind of nutraceuticals in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and on increasing HDL.
