ABSTRACT

To formulate and evaluate herbal cream using hydroalcoholic extract of Brassica oleracea var. capitata (cabbage) and Coriandrum sativum (Coriander) to give anti acne effect. The cream was prepared by using the cream base that is bee’s wax, liquid paraffin, borax, propylene glycol, distilled water, almond oil, rose water, extracts of Brassica oleracea var. capitata (cabbage) and Coriandrum sativum (Coriander). The cream was prepared by using the slab technique/ extemporaneous method for geometric and homogenous mixing of all the excipients and the herbal extracts. By using slab technique, we have developed three batches of our herbal cream, namely Formulation-A, Formulation-B and Formulation-C. These batches were evaluated for different parameters like appearance, PH, viscosity, phase separation. These formulations showed good appearance, PH, adequate viscosity and no phase separation was observed. Moreover, these both formulations showed no redness, erythema and irritation, during irritancy study and easily washable. This both creams were stable at room temperature. Our herbal ingredient showed significant different activities. Based on the results, we can suggest that formulations were stable and can be safety used on the skin.

Keywords: Brassica oleracea var. capitata, Coriandrum sativum, Anti-acne cream.
