IMMUNOMODULATORY ACTIVITY OF INGREDIENTS OF DHATRYADI RASAYANA – A CRITICAL REVIEW

ABSTRACT

The main objective of Ayurveda is “Swasthasyaswasthyarakshanam Aaturasyavikarprashmananchaa” to promote the health of healthy person and cure the disease of a diseased person. This is the Ayurvedic approach of the definition of health (Swastha), which take into consideration the whole body, mind and spirit. Ancient Acharyas had developed various dietary and therapeutic measures to delay ageing and rejuvenate whole functional dynamics of body system, known as Rasayana Chikitisa (Rejuvenation Therapy). Rasayana (Rejuvenator) is not just a drug therapy but it is a specialized approachused in the form of rejuvenating therapy, dietary regimen and special health nurturing conduct. Dhatryadi Rasayana is one of the utmost Rasayana of Ayurvedic text. Through this Rasayana one can attain excellence of hair, maintain proper functioning of sense organs, longevity and exempt from diseases. The present review is endeavour for screening the immunomodulatory activity of the ingredients of Dhatryadi Rasayanaand for establishing the correlation between Rasayana and immunomodulator.
