PODI THIMIRDHAL, AN EXTERNAL THERAPY IN SIDDHA SYSTEM OF MEDICINE- A LITERATURE REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Siddha system of medicine has 32 types of external therapies, one of them is Podi thimirdhal, a non-invasive therapeutical method used to treat various disease ailments in which vatham and kabam humour is involved such as skin diseases, musculoskeletal diseases, obesity, polycystic ovarian disease, varicose veins etc. This review paper provides a detailed information on its standard operating procedure, basic therapeutic principles, medicinal preparations, and its indications, scientific validation and contra-indications of this method which will pave a way for better future medical practice by Siddha physicians on diseased individuals and for other research purposes.
