FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF ANTI-MICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF HERBAL CREAM OF ALCOHOLIC EXTRACT OF AZADIRACHTA INDICA A.JUSS

ABSTRACT

The anti-microbial activity of ethanolic extract of dried leaves of Azadirachta indica A.Juss (neem), is a fast growing evergreen popular tree found commonly in India, Africa and America. It is very important medicinal plant which is used to treat different diseases. The scientific name of neem, Azadirachta indica, is derived from the Persian, Azad means free dirakht means tree. The aim of the present research was to formulate and evaluate the herbal cream for the purpose of moistening and nourishing the skin. The creams containing the concentration of ethanolic herbal extracts have high potentials as topical antimicrobial agents especially against skin infections. The prepared formulation produce both antifungal and antibacterial activity.
