Abstract

AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF VIPADIKA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO PALMAR PSORIASIS: A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT

Palmar Psoriasis is a variant of Psoriasis that affects skin of palms. It is chronic, debilitating disease of the palms with unknown cause and produces significant functional disability. It is long lasting disease with social discomfort and difficult to cure. Contemporary management of Palmar Psoriasis is restricted to topical vitamins and corticosteroids. Vipadika is ayurvedic correlation to Palmar Psoriasis with correlating symptoms which is caused due to derangement in vata and kapha dosha. This is a case of palmar psoriasis which was successfully managed by ayurvedic line of management. A 34yrs old male with bilateral palmar psoriasis since 2-3 yrs visited to our O.P.D. He was teacher by profession and was in frequent contact with chalk power which was making his condition more worse and he was facing difficulty in classroom teaching. He was also having history of scalp psoriasis 3yrs back. Patient took allopathic treatment for Palmar Psoriasis and had no relief. Then he approached to ayurvedic management and he was treated with Agada Principles which involves vishagna, krimigna, kandugna etc along with shodhana line of management. Patient had good relief in symptoms without any recurrence and good quality of life.
