ABSTRACT

Praziquantel (PZQ) is recommended worldwide for the treatment of helminths. In pharmaceutical industry, analytical methods were used to develop the drug stability, drug quality and to ensure its shelf life. So far, around twenty four analytical methods have been reported for various studies on analysis of praziquantel in bulk, pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids. This review exposes the role of different analytical techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography and hyphenated techniques of praziquantel. Also, these articles proposed method should be validated in terms of accuracy, precision, specificity, limit of detection LOD, limit of quantification LOQ, ruggedness, robustness and system suitability. The method should be simple and cost efficient for the routine analysis. Thus, the present study explains detail about the method which has overcome all the parameters among each type of techniques. From that the studies highlights the HPLC techniques, spectroscopic and hyphenated techniques like LC-MS have been most widely used for the analysis. The brief review may provide information to the researchers who are working in the area of analytical research of praziquantel.
