ABSTRACT
Orally administered drugs are completely absorbed only when they have a fair solubility in gastric medium and such drug show high bioavailability. Recently, more than 40% of new drug developed in the pharmaceutical industry are practically insoluble in water. These drugs' inability to dissolve in water, associated with slow absorption, results in insufficient and variable bioavailability. Hence various techniques are used for the improvement of the solubility of poorly water-soluble drugs include micronization, Nanonization, Surfactant, pH adjustment, Co-solvency, particle size reduction, Polymeric Alteration, Solvent Deposition/Evaporation, Co-crystallization, hydrotropy.
Keywords: Techniques of solubility enhancement, Nanonization, Polymeric Alteration.
