A LITERATURE REVIEW ON VENKUTTAM (LEUCODERMA) AND REPORTED HERBS & MINERALS FOR ITS TREATMENT IN SIDDHA MEDICINE

ABSTRACT

Several great civilizations have thought to conquer disease and death and diverse systems of medicine have evolved in different countries at different times. One among such system, Siddha is presently practised predominantly in South India. Siddhars have devised ways and means to prevent and to treat physical and mental illness, to lead long and healthy lives. Siddha system approaches and analyses the diseases on the basis of principles of Panchaboothas, Arusuvai and Tridosas and the choice of drug also depends upon the same principles. Now, it is our prime duty and endeavour, to make our Siddha medicines popular all over the world by studying them through modern research. This paper would reveal the causes, symptoms and treatment for the most important disease venkuttam.
