FORMULATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SUSTAIN RELEASE MATRIX TABLET OF VENLAFAXINE HYDROCHLORIDE BY USING NATURAL POLYMERS

ABSTRACT
In the present research work Venlafaxine Hydrochloride select as a model drug which is Anti-dipressant with an oral bioavailability of only 45% with short half-life as 5±2 h hrs and high water solubility it was suitable drug candidate for the preparation of sustain release matrix tablet formulation. The goal of present investigation to formulate the SR matrix tablet of Venlafaxine Hydrochloride by using Natural matrix former gums as xanthan gum and Guar gum separately. Tablets were prepared by wet granulation method. The prepared formulation were further evaluated for uniformity of Weight, Hardness, Friability, Thickness, Content uniformity, In-vitro dissolution, drug- excipient interactions and swelling index study also
carried out and they found within the limit. Among different formulations VFX3 and VFG2 which contain Xanthan gum and Guar gum (1:4) and (1:3) respectively. This exhibited precise controlled release of drug up to (VFX3-91.90%, VFG2-93.02). The optimized batches were tested for water uptake study. Venlafaxine Hydrochloride Sustain Release Tablet is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) and Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) also known as Social Phobia.
