ABSTRACT

Aim and objective: The study aims to assess the safety and effectiveness of Biphasic Insulin Aspart30/70 in diabetic patients admitted in a tertiary care hospital. The research was performed to check whether the Biphasic Insulin Aspart 30/70 is effective in T2DM patients as per the guidelines. Methods: Patient’s socio-demographic and clinical data were recorded in a predesigned proforma and analyzed the 82 patients prescriptions according to the objectives. Result: A total of 82 patients admitted with DM in the hospital enrolled in the study. In our study, out of the 82 randomly collected diabetic patients enrolled, 55% patients were male and 27% patients were female. Out of the 82 diabetic patients, only 50% had a family history of diabetes and 45.1% had no family history of diabetes. According to BMI, 39 members has more frequency distribution (47.56%). In this study here, while checking the FBS (0.689) (p<0.001) and PPBS (0.511) (p<0.001) decrease after the insulin is given and correlation is significant. There is a correlation between morning dose and GRBS, because hypoglycemic events occur in morning that is diurnal events (7.31%) GRBS has no correlation with night dose therefore, no nocturnal events occur (1.21%) Here, Pearson’s correlation is used statistically to analyses the correlation. Conclusion: The study shows that Biphasic Insulin Aspart 30/70 is effective in patients with T2DM. Here, Insulin is given twice and thrice daily. And FBS and PPBS also reduced.

Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, Biphasic Insulin Aspart 30/70.
