Abstract

AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF VIPADIKA W.S.R. TO PALMOPLANTAR KERATODERMA – A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT

Cracked heels not only cause cosmetic disfiguration, sometimes they may make the patient suffer a lot and for long time. In farmers due to negligence and lack of planter hygiene sometimes planter cracks get converted into a non-healing wound. Clinically such presentations can be considered as Vipadika with larger cracks leading to pus formation, oozing, foul smell etc. Vipadika is kshudra kushta caused due to vitiation of Vata-kapha, presents with cracks on soles associated with pain and sometimes bleeding. When the condition gets association of Pitta it presents with pustular lesions and oozing. A male patient farmer by occupation presented with large chronic wounds on both soles with mild oozing and foul smell. Clinically the condition was diagnosed as Vipadika developed as Dushta vruna. The Condition was treated successfully based on Kustagna, Vranahara, Rasayana and Vishaghna principles by using medicines like Nimbadi kashaya, Dashanga gulika (Agada), Patolakaturohinyadi kashaya, Kalyanaka grita, Triphala kashaya, Nalpamaradi taila etc. and there were no any complications and patient was happy and satisfied with outcome.
