CHALCONES AND SCHIFF BASES- POTENT SYNTHETIC SCAFFOLDS- A REVIEW
Jinijith S.*
ABSTRACT Chalcones and Schiff bases together in a compound and without can be considered as really promising synthetic scaffolds. This study is putting forward some research findings related to the activities shown by Chalcones and/or Schiff bases. These compounds are studied together as two parts of a same compound and also individually. In both the cases they showed positive study responses. The anti-proliferative activity, anti-cancer activity, anti-microbial activity etc. shown by these compounds contributes to further studies. Since new discoveries are still needed in the field of anti-cancer drugs further studies are needed in this regard. This is where the study about these compounds become more important. Drugs against Alzheimer’s disease and anti-epileptic drugs are areas where studies are going on. Schiff bases and chalcones have been adopted as a subject of study with great importance in this field as well. Studies show that Schiff base complexes show more anti-microbial activity after metal incorporation. Such metal complexes exhibit more stability than normal Schiff bases. Keywords: Chalcone, Schiff base, Anti-proliferative, Anti-cancer, Anti-microbial. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
