Anu P. V.*, Savad K. K. and Rathi S.

ABSTRACT

Digital Eye Strain is a class of eye and vision-related problems that result from tedious use of computer, tablet, e-reader and cell phone. Being an evident public health peril, it is directly proportional to the extend of digital screen exposure. Now a days, the use of digital screens is quite customary for the young generation as well as children. The obligatory e-learning has turned up as a technique for teaching and learning in colleges and schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our young and upcoming generation is going into a higher risk of DES due to the current swing of unchecked e-learning. Symptoms of DES are having resemblance with Suskakshipaka, which is mentioned under Sarvagata Netraroga. All the three doshas are engaged in the pathogenesis with the predominance of Vata and pitta. In modern treatment, modalities like maintaining normal blinking, using artificial tears and ergonomic practices are considered for the management of digital eye strain. These limitations make us think about an effective and alternative conduct towards digital eye strain. In the present case study, patient of digital eye strain is managed with Ksheera-saindhava seka, Lodhra ghrita Aschyotana, Avipathikara churna, Drakshadi ksheera kashaya and Vidaryadi lehya. Assessment was done. Follow up was done after 1 month and the relief was considerable.

Keywords: Digital eye strain, Covid19, E-learning, Ayurveda, Computer eye syndrome, Pranayama, Suskakshipaka.
