FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF VALSARTAN PATCH FOR TOPICAL DELIVERY

ABSTRACT

The preparation of matrix type transdermal patch appears to be a most effective approach from the process development and scale-up point of view. In the present investigation, an attempt was made to formulate Valsartan patch using Eudragit RLPO, Eudragit RLSO, HPMC, Ethyl Cellulose, polyethylene glycol 600, Glycerol, Chloroform and Methanol. Characterization of prepared matrix transdermal patches. To reduce the dosing frequency by formulating the drug into patch form and maintain the plasma concentration of drug for prolongs time. Development of a Valsartan patch formulation would be a significant advantage for patient compliance accompanied by minimization of the drug side effects as a result of reduction in the drug blood concentration flactuations, especially in long-term therapy.
