Abstract

REVIEW ON MAP KINASE INHIBITION AND RELATED BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES

Veena K. S., Meena Chandran*, Greeshma Giridharan, Swathy P. S. and K. Krishnakumar

ABSTRACT

MAP Kinase acts as an important target for inflammatory diseases which mainly include rheumatoid arthritis. Several drugs have been developed as MAPK inhibitors which are still not to market. They have failed in clinical trials, owing to selectivity and/or toxicity concerns. We are planning to review various possibilities of MAPK inhibition. MAPK inhibition brings out scope in protection against damages from cerebral ischemia, enhanced radiation induced cell killing, macrophage apoptosis, management of pro-inflammatory cytokine based diseases, atherosclerotic disease, inhibition of melanoma, management of CVD etc.

Keywords: MAP kinase, Cytokines, Imidazoles.
